NSW: Police sacked for pornographic e mails
SYDNEY, Dec 20 AAP - Five officers have been sacked and a further six have been nominated
for dismissal from the New South Wales Police Service for handling pornography over the
service's e-mail system, police announced today.
The announcement came after the tabling this morning of a special report to parliament
by the NSW Ombudsman, who has been reviewing incidents of inappropriate use of the service's
e-mail system.
Deputy Commissioner Ken Moroney said 170 police had been subject to disciplinary action
and another 200 instances were under review as part of the police service's drive to curb
abuse of the system.
